Re: what is the Berg group
Thu, April 17, 2008 - 10:59 PMi do not know.
only that there is a rabbi here who uses a book,
"cabballah decoded" i think in his class
and the book referenced the Berg group.
and i just wonder if tehre are different schools of thought on QBL.
i bet it is reform, as they have beginners in the first half of the book and path working in the last half.
might you help me to understand both the orthodox and erform?
thanks. -

Re: what is the Berg group
Fri, April 18, 2008 - 8:46 AMok.
The reform rabbi at Kol Ami is a women.
The orthodox rabbi would not shave, and is a member of Habatt, they are the only orthodox jews I know that actively do missionary work to recruit new jews.
Cabballah is an interesting study, we have many groups on tribe that discuss it, like this one.
The berg group is probably the last name of a jew in Utah who studies it together.
Just guessing.
If you dont know the difference between a orthodox and reform its a matter of how much one is follow the rules of God to the letter of the law. -

Re: what is the Berg group
Fri, April 18, 2008 - 2:51 PMYeah - I'm thinking the Berg group must be referencing the Kabbalah Centre www.kabbalah.com/ Yehuda and Michael Berg. Be careful..they are known for spearating a fool from his money pretty quickly. -

Re: what is the Berg group
Sat, April 19, 2008 - 10:29 PMi thought it was 'kabballah decoded'.
but i find no reference to it i trh ebook sites.
and they did not let me take it home.
and i do also think it is that group.
but this Rabbi sez no charge...
so far.
They are at a Passover overnight campout.
i was just not sure about going.
til i heard more feedback.
but i sat in on the thursday night discussion.
and i had never seen pathworking done on the board,
let alone being in a beginners group.

Re: what is the Berg group
Sun, April 20, 2008 - 12:23 PMThe group has to make money some how.
Even If its in a private home and nothing is offered but friendship and discussion, you should still keep your eyes open.
Always find out what their expectations are... -

Re: what is the Berg group
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 7:48 AMChabad doesn't recruit new Jews. Their outreach is to unaffiliated and unobservant Jews. -

Re: what is the Berg group
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 8:04 AMright, missionary work is to recruit non jews or as you say unobservant jews like me. Thats what I meant.
